|
|
|
Here in the Harz, situated a few minutes from the old town of Wernigerode is the Harzer Baumkuchen, where you can taste this famous cake. A true test of a pastry chef's skills, the Baumkuchen has earned its reputation as the "King of Cakes". This labour intensive cake name literally translates as tree cake, which is taken from the many thin rings that are formed as one layer is placed on the other as it is baked. Skilled pastry chefs have been known to create cakes with 25 layers, weighing over 100 pounds and measuring more than 3 feet long. The cafe has 100 seats indoors and 30 seats outside with ample parking space. For more information please check out www.harzer-baumkuchen-friedrich.de |
