The hammer mill in Zorge produces a selection of liqueurs and spirits from fruit, berries and herbs. It also produces Harz own whisky which is under the label of Glen Els after the name of the small river Elsbach which flows past the premises. This family run business where everything is produced by hand move to its current position from Wieda in 2005. The first whisky distillation took place in late 2002 and the first 278 bottles were released in early 2006. Each bottle is bottled by hand and hand-numbered. The family have several casks in bond and the latest bottling took place in 2008. T The warehouse has more than 150 casks maturing and in 2010 the first bottling will take place. You can visit the distillery and its shop. There is a nice museum and a smell sensation. You can sample the whiskeys and liqueurs before buying and special whisky tasting sessions are available.
