St Servtius Church The St. Servatius church is a late Gothic hall-church. It is smaller than its sister church, St. Cyriakus. In its turbulent history, the Church has retained its pure Gothic style. From 1714, she received a rich interior in baroque style and then had 8 altars. A high altar from which the Crucifixion, painted in oil has been preserved at the front of the church. West Tower The Weserturm in Duderstadt is the only surviving gateway into the city from the medieval defences. It is a very decorative tower, with a tall, spiralling spire atop which was caused by a weakness in the design. The tower was built in 1343 and was one of eight around the city. It burnt down in 1424 and was rebuilt over the next 12 years. The Weserturm is not open to the public. |
