The Blankenburg Castle
From far away you can see this beautiful castle, once the highlight of the region. Over 800 years old and currently in state of renovation, by a group of volunteers who are set to save this building. You can wonder around the castle and see its sheer beauty. There are guided tours every Saturday from 2pm - 4pm, which cost 2 Euros for adults and 1 Euro for children. The website has an excellent English section.

The Small Castle and Baroque Gardens
In the old town of Blankenburg you can find this little gem, it has stunning baroque terrace garden with three small fountains and a series of delicate sandstone figurines. The garden was built around 1725. The building now houses a museum with 14 exhibition halls. There is a hall where concerts, lectures, conferences and exhibitions are held. Opening times: Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm Sunday and bankholiday 2pm - 5pm

Castle Regenstein
The remains of this castle are on the top of a rock to ensure you can see it from a far distance. First mentioned in 1169 this castle has many special feature made from the sandstone architecture, today you can still wonder around in the 32 rooms which are in the caves. It hosts many events. It is about three miles north of the city of Blankenburg.
